
As a New Ventures & Licensing Associate, Renee manages a diverse portfolio of technologies within Computer Science, the Physical Sciences and Engineering. In this role, Renee evaluates new inventions, conducts Intellectual Property due diligence, and develops commercialization strategies to transfer early-stage intellectual assets into the marketplace. She drafts and negotiates a wide range of agreements including licensing, confidentiality, and inter-institutional agreements while collaborating with patent attorneys on patent prosecution.
Renee plays a crucial role in supporting faculty-led startups and provides guidance on early-stage venture development, intellectual property strategy and partnership opportunities to bring innovations to market. Her experience founding Olive Devices, a startup focused on creating a virtual reality assistive device for the deaf and hard of hearing, gives her valuable insights to share with Princeton teams on developing university spin-outs.
Prior to joining Princeton, Renee held positions at the MedStar Institute for Innovation, Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, and in government consulting. Additionally, she gained valuable experience through supportive roles at startups, including BestSelf Co. and Swirl, a nonprofit organization. Renee holds a B.S. in Industrial Design from Philadelphia University and a J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law. During law school, she externed at Price Heneveld, LLP, a patent law firm, and began her tech transfer career as an intern and later a consultant at the Zucker Institute for Innovation Commercialization.
