Laurie serves as the lead professional support person and also provides additional support and oversight of OTL staff and OTL activities,
In addition, Laurie is responsible for life sciences, biotechnology and related subjects. She covers all aspects of protecting, leveraging and transferring University intellectual property assets to commercialization partners. Her responsibilities include exploring the business case for inventions, managing faculty engagement with patent counsel, marketing technologies, and negotiating options and licenses. She also takes the lead in crafting confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements (MTAs), and inter-institutional agreements. Her responsibilities are primarily focused on the life sciences.
Laurie joined the Office of Technology Licensing (OTL) in 2005, having previously worked as vice president for client development at the technology development and commercialization company BTG plc. Laurie has been also involved in sales of research products for the life sciences, including radiopharmaceuticals and infectious disease diagnostic kits. Laurie is active in the local biotechnology associations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She is a former board member of the Pennsylvania Biotech Association and an active member of the Licensing Executive Society (LES) and the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM). She is currently serving as co-chair of the AUTM MTA Survey Committee and is a member of the New Jersey Ad Hoc Committee. Laurie holds a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of New Hampshire.
